In addition to this, the speaker icon in the Menu Bar will be greyed out if you have this icon enabled and visible. The Focusrite hardware controls all signals going in and coming out. Your Mac will not be able to raise or lower signals when an audio interface is set as the primary device in System Preferences under Sound. It is a reminder that the Mac computer doesn't control the signals coming in and out from audio interfaces. This message does not mean an issue with your audio interface. When selecting an interface as the input and output device in System Preferences > Sound on a Mac, a message stating 'This device has no input/output controls' displays at the bottom of the screen for both tabs: This applies to: all products on macOS Operating Systems Older macOS Systems
